Region 4 Youth Outreach

Harmony Heartland Region 4 Youth Outreach

Youth Festivals and Quartets.

Meet our Youth Coordinator:

Hello! My name is Sarah Parrett, and I have proudly been a member of Sweet Adelines for 13 years. I am currently a proud member of the Scioto Valley Chorus! I share my life with my husband, a fellow Barbershopper, and together we have two wonderful children, ages 3 and 5. We cherish the opportunity to share the gift of music with them each day.

As a 2nd grade teacher, I am deeply passionate about the joy of learning and the bright future that our youth represent. I am excited to dedicate my time to our youth outreach program in Region 4 and to support its development. My goal is to help grow and engage this next generation of barbershop singers.

Purpose: The purpose of this grant program is to support and financially assist
programs and activities that promote the education and performance of the barbershop
style of harmony to treble voiced youth, aged twenty-five or younger.

Programs: The grant program supports activities and events that promote Youth
Outreach in Region 4 of Sweet Adelines, International. Region 4 includes parts of Ohio,
Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama; and all of West Virginia. For further

These events may include (but are not limited to):

* Single- or multi-chapter organized treble voiced youth festivals, which endorse and
promote barbershop-style educational activities and performances, usually within the
span of one or two days.

* Performance opportunities that encourage treble voiced singers in a barbershop
format. This may include promoting a treble voiced quartet/chorus on a chapter show, a
talent show style contest that provides scholarships to treble voiced singers, and other
activities that encourage treble voiced performers within a barbershop setting.

* Financial assistance for a Region 4 youth quartet that has already been formed and is
intending to compete at either the regional or international level as a Rising Star
quartet.

Award: The grant program will award up to $500.00 per event, to be determined by
the grant committee and availability of funds, or $400 for a quartet competing in the
Rising Star quartet contest or help with travel to International convention, if they are
current year Rising Star Champions.

of the planned event. An organization or chapter may apply for more than one grant.
No materials (i.e. flyers, video tapes, etc.) are to be sent with applications, unless
specifically requested. Applications will be reviewed by a grant committee, which will
