Ear & Interval Training - Kim Newcomb, Capital City Chorus

This class focuses on Aural Skills and Pitch Development. It serves as an introduction to tools that can be practically applied to your daily music making. We will explore exercises that develop the ear, strengthen interval recognition, sight reading, and aural memory.

Chorus Unity in Times of Zoom - Vicki Petzko, Scenic City Chorus

As we begin to transition from the past 2 years, chorus unity needs to be maintained and fortified in order to emerge stronger and even better than before.  Each chorus needs to rebuild as a team; communication, decision making,  real-time activities, zoom rehearsals, goal setting and leadership all need to  be enhanced.  This discussion will allow you to share what you have done and learn from each other.

Sing Your Part Smart

This class will have a short introduction and then proceed to breakout rooms for each section.  They will address specific challenges for your part, special warm-ups to address those challenges, and then use the regional song, “It’s the Music that Brings Us Together,” as the vehicle to demonstrate the mastery of each part. 

This class features our regional talent of:

TENOR - Stacey St. John –Moxie Ladies, 2009 International Queen of Harmony & currently the tenor of Lady A Cappella (formerly Glamour) current 13th place quartet.

LEAD Chelsea Savaggio – Lead of our current 4th place International Quartet, Tenacious, and sings with our current International 4th place chorus, Scioto Valley.

BARITONE Kim Newcomb – Baritone of our current 10th place International Quartet, The Ladies, who also won the Rising Star Contest in 2016.  She also sings with the Mixed Quartet Half and Half, and directs the Capital City Chorus.

BASS – Gretchen Holloway - Moxie Ladies, 2009 International Queen of Harmony & currently the tenor of Lady A Cappella (formerly Glamour) current 13th place quartet and sings with the current International 4th place chorus, Scioto Valley.

Fun and Games

It is so important during this pandemic to keep Harmony Heartland Region 4 chorus members connected and having fun.  This class will be broken into part sections so you can get to know each other.   This class will include the following:  

1)     An ice breaker activity.

2)     1-2 games that can be taken back to their choruses for their own rehearsal fun!

3)     Come back together at the end to share.
